Johnny moved to Jackson, MS when he was 20 years old with the band, "Mississippi Rain which was eventually signed to the POLYDOR record label. He later was a founding member of Sassy Jones, a regionally popular band. He then moved to Nashville honing his skills as a writer at several publishing companies. Johnny moved back to Jackson in the 90s to pursue a solo career. He released the regionally successful "Smoke Filled Room" CD, followed by several more CD releases. His fourth & current CD release is "Monkey Nerve". It's an eclectic blend of styles in the tradition of Eric Clapton & Bonnie Raitt - adult pop/rock but always steeped in the blues. Johnny wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on "Monkey Nerve" except for one. An acoustic guitar/vocal/cello version of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" featuring Nathaniel Smith on Cello.
